New Home Sales Improve Slightly

According to a new Commerce Department servery, new home sales increased slightly for the month of April, 2008. Although this increase was the first for 5 consecutive months, compared to year before April was as much as 42% off.
The median sales price of new houses sold in April rose 9.1 percent compared with March to 246,100 dollars, marking the highest median price level since November of last year.
There are various reasons that can be attributed to this increase, including buyers prefer to shop for new home during warmer weather, and new home builders are offering many substantial discounts to attract buyers.

The Future Looks Bright

The most resilient sector of all is the luxury real estate market, where the city's abundant multi-millionaires continue to outbid each other, keeping prices on the rise. Prominent Las Vegas real estate agent, Cristine Lefkowitz explains, "People with money always have money, and they don't need financing."

"We do seem to get more than our share of high-profile and unique listings," Lefkowitz said. "This certainly adds an extra dimension to our practice. Whenever we get a new celebrity listing, potential buyers call from all over the world. They know that if they want to snap up a celebrity home, they have to act fast and not quibble about price."

Certainly, the celebrity factor is part of what keeps the luxury real estate market in Las Vegas vibrant. Between that and the general prosperity and optimism in the area, the future looks bright.
